Games, concerts and other events

  • The guide and bag policy are written for Chicago Bears home games; the page does not state rules for other events at Soldier Field.

Exceptions and accessibility

Medical bags are permitted after screening and approval at Gates 8, 38 and 47. Clear diaper bags within 12 x 6 x 12 in are permitted. Non-clear diaper bags are prohibited on the bag-policy page; the A-Z guide lists diaper bags as prohibited unless medically necessary.

  • Gate 8 is the designated gate for service animals and for exchanging a mobile ticket for a wheelchair-accessible seat; all gates are ADA accessible.

If your bag is not allowed

  • Gameday lockers for storing prohibited items are at two spots: the Field Museum East Terrace inside the Miller Lite Ultimate Tailgate (off McFetridge Drive) and the 18th Street turnaround just west of DuSable Lake Shore Drive.
  • Locker rental is $10 and credit card only.

Entry, gates and re-entry

  • Stadium gates open two hours before kickoff, and walk-through metal detectors are used at the gates.
  • At the detectors, phones, keys, wallets, belts and similar items can stay on; only large metal objects go on the table, and a handheld wand may be used if the detector alerts.
  • All guests must enter with a mobile ticket from the Bears app, and the page says only one NFL-approved bag per person is allowed.
  • Re-entry is not permitted, and the guide says every guest must pass through a security checkpoint.

What you can bring

  • Hand-held binoculars are permitted, but binocular cases are not.

What is not allowed

  • Umbrellas, coolers and ice chests (including soft-sided), cans/bottles/other beverage containers, and alcohol are not permitted inside.
  • Also barred: poles including selfie sticks, cameras with lenses over 6 in, video cameras, seat cushions with zippers or pockets, balloons, beach balls, confetti and drones.
  • Strollers are not allowed in the seating area; they can be checked at Gate 10 or the United Club 100 Level concierge desks, with Gate 8 used beginning in October, and no other prohibited item can be checked.

Other things to know

Blankets are allowed, carried in your hand or in an approved clear bag. Prohibited bags may not be shrunk to fit the approved size or hidden inside approved bags. Fans attempting to conceal a bag, or found inside with a prohibited bag that has not been screened and approved, are subject to ejection.

  • Smoking and vaping are prohibited with no designated smoking areas, and the guide notes re-entry is prohibited for smoking breaks.

What the venue's page does not say

  • Rules for events other than Chicago Bears home games.
  • The stroller-check gate in October (the venue's page names Gate 10 and the United Club 100 Level concierge desks and adds Gate 8 'beginning in October', and we repeat it as written).

We do not guess. Where the page is silent, we say so and suggest checking with the venue.
